INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY
LITERACY IS A BRIDGE FROM MISERY TO HOPE
Literacy is a fundamental human right and the basis for any individual’s ability to learn. It is essential for social and human development and provides individuals the skills and empowers them to transform their lives.
We, along with the world, have been celebrating the International Literacy Day on September 8 every year. This day aims to promote the importance of literacy as a matter of dignity and human rights and to advance the literacy agenda towards a more literate and sustainable society.
International Literacy Day 2020 focuses on “Literacy teaching and learning in the COVID-19 crisis and beyond,” especially on the role of educators and changing pedagogies. The theme highlights literacy- learning from a lifelong learning perspective, and therefore, mainly focuses on youth and adults. To promote the importance of literacy among students, RKS has organized certain activities;
TOPIC: INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY
The activities are assigned as follows:
Classes I-IV :Prepare a colourful bookmark with a quotation on Literacy on it,
like -EACH ONE TEACH ONE, ERADICATE ILLITERACY, etc.
Classes V-VIII :Design an attractive Book Cover illustrating the Importance of Literacy, like – only literates realise the value of books, Both black letters and black buffalo appear similar to an illiterate person.
Classes IX-XII :Write a paragraph in 100-120 words, summarising the importance of Literacy.
