People who get three meals every day are blessed.

Food is an emotion for many. We all have distinct dishes attached to different moods. Food which is meant to provide nutriments to us has many roles to play.

World Food Day is a day of action dedicated to tackling global hunger. Held annually on 16th October, people from around the world come together to declare their commitment to eradicate worldwide hunger. It is also important to note that while millions go hungry, 67.5 million people suffer from obesity, and a further 1.3 billion are overweight.

Ramakrishna Senior Secondary school observed World Food Day on 16th October to promote worldwide awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger and for the need to ensure food security and nutritious diets for all. Our students from class 3rd and 4th participated in the celebrations and took a pledge to create awareness on not only the importance of food but also showed their commitment to not waste food.

To commemorate the day, Aayushi of class 12th delivered a speech in her virtual class. She stated that food is a basic and fundamental human requirement. She emphasized the importance of nutritious and healthy food habits. She further highlighted the demerits of consuming junk food, world food problems, and solidarity in the struggle against hunger, malnutrition, and poverty. She concluded her speech with a beautiful quote:

“Food represents love when words fail to describe it.”
