Ramakrishna Senior Secondary School observed World Sight Day on 12th October 2020 to bring global attention to the challenges encountered due to blindness and vision impairment. Khushi Kumari, a student of class 12 through virtual platform delivered a speech emphasizing this day as the most important advocacy and communications day in the eye health calendar.
Through her speech, she highlighted the key role of IABP (International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness). The agency has a key leadership in World Sight Day preparedness.
In her address, she also mentioned the theme of the World Sight Day 2020: ‘Hope On Sight.’ She urged that there is a dire need to spread the message of #HopeInSight. Poor or lost eye sight can leave major and long-lasting effects on all aspects of life, including daily personal activities, interacting with the community, school and work etc.
In the end, she pleaded to everyone for increased attention towards eye care. She concluded her speech with a famous quote by Paulo Coelho:
”Your eyes show the strength of your soul.”
