RKS ORGANIZED VIRTUAL ACTIVITY ON WORLD POPULATION DAY
In its zeal to build prosperous communities and make real progress in society, RKS goes beyond the realms of programme implementations. During World Population Day, RKS organized special activities for the entire school to spread awareness about family planning, women upliftment, fertility management, and reproductive and child healthcare in the society.
Keerat Kaur, a student of Class IX, was provided with an opportunity to deliver a speech in her virtual class, on the topic, “World Population Day”. She highlighted the importance of the event stating that it is celebrated to increase awareness among people towards population issues.
Elucidating the theme of World Population Day 2020, the sexual and reproductive health needs and vulnerabilities of women and girls during the pandemic, she expressed the dire need to uplift women and educate them. She also apprised the necessity to reach out to disadvantaged communities with messages on family planning issues.
She concluded by highlighting the fact that society requires ubiquitous availability of fertility management and the youth should be offered detailed knowledge about sexuality and delayed marriages, till they are able to understand their responsibilities. She ended by focussing on the fact that Population Explosion, if not controlled, can have serious repercussions and poses a threat to the economy, health, and environment.
