“It is time to remove the darkness of ignorance within us and replace it with the light of hope and knowledge instead.”

Diwali is the festival of lights that is celebrated in various regions across India. The name ‘Deepavali’ literally means an ‘array of lights’. To make the students understand the importance of Diwali, Ramakrishna Senior Secondary School virtually celebrated Diwali on November 4th. The festival spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair.

On the auspicious occasion of Diwali, Priyanshi Vassan of Class IX delivered a speech in her virtual classroom. Through her speech, she gave an insight into the significance of the festival which is celebrated to commemorate the victory of good over evil and knowledge over ignorance. She sensitized students about the ill effects of crackers and also shared the guidelines of environment-friendly options for celebrating Diwali. She concluded her speech by insisting that Diwali should be celebrated in its purest form by lighting the lamps and sharing with the less fortunate.

Celebrations also included some of the beautiful performances given by the students of class 6th where they all showcased different ways of celebrating Diwali that included offering prayers to goddess Lakshmi, rangoli making, a small dance performance by some students, decorating houses, etc. They enthralled the audience with their graceful performances.

True Diwali spirit means sharing our things with the poor, who do not have the means to celebrate this festival.
