Ruskin Bond has rightly said that Books are the keys to the ‘Kings’ Treasuries’ and without the knowledge of English it is not possible to have an access to this.
Every year, 23rd April is observed as UN English Language Day. On this occasion, Ramakrishna Senior Secondary School virtually organized a speech activity as a tribute to mark the importance of the English language. Giving its significance, Lavanya of class 6th, unfolded this day’s origin and its importance in the form of her speech. She also stated that this day was chosen because it is thought to be Shakespeare’s birthday and the anniversary of his death. Despite being the English language’s most famous playwright, Shakespeare also had a huge impact on modern-day English.
She quoted that It would not be an exaggeration to state that proficiency in English is a reflection of the educated class and the finest literature of the world is to be found in this language.
In the end, she concluded her speech with a beautiful quote :
‘Celebrating this day has a different significance. It’s like a tribute to our famous writer and an honour to this language.’
