On the auspicious occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti, Ramakrishna Senior Secondary School virtually organized several activities. A chance to explore the journey into Sikhism, their traditions, and to infuse within students, respect for their culture. Guru Purab is another name for Guru Nanak Jayanti . It is the holiest festival observed to memorize Guru Nanak, the first Sikh guru and a great spiritual teacher. It is celebrated on a full moon day in the month of Kartik.

The celebrations commenced with a performance by the students of class 3rd and 4th wherein they recited some hymns which took everybody to an ethereal world.

Bharat Bhandari of class VI delivered a speech in his virtual class in which he stated that this festival is celebrated with a lot of devotion and reverence throughout the world. He further explained the meaning of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Prakash Utsav. He also highlighted that procession (Nagarkirtan) is organized a day before Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birthday. People sing hymns in groups and play traditional musical instruments and also display their martial arts skills. The joyful procession passes through streets decorated with flags and flowers.

 In the end, students were also told about Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s life and his thoughts. He also made a devotion to God to protect the world from pandemic disease.
