Maha Shivaratri is a great festival in Hinduism, celebrated annually with devotion and religious enthusiasm in the honor of Lord Shiva, deities of the Hindu Trinity. On this auspicious occasion, Ramakrishna Senior Secondary School virtually organized various activities.

Yashika Gulati of Class VI-B was given the opportunity to speak in her virtual classroom. In her speech, she explained the literal meaning of Shivaratri – “The Great Night of Lord Shiva”.

She stated that on the day of Shivratri, people sing devotional songs and recite popular tales. The temples are beautifully decorated with lights and flowers. People believe that fasting on this auspicious day will bring good luck and prosperity into their lives. They perform various rituals by doing rurdrabhishek and pour water and milk over the Shiva Lingam. The roar of the devotees shouting ‘Om Namah Shivaya’ turns the whole atmosphere truly pious and religious.

In the end, she wished everyone Happy Mahashivatri and prayed to Lord Shiva to guide us in every situation of our life.

Celebrations also included some of the beautiful dance performances given by students of Class 1st to show their devotion towards Lord Shiva. All the students participated enthusiastically and enjoyed it a lot.
