India’s festivals reflect the country’s rich cultural abundance. Breaking the humdrum of daily routine,

these festivals bring with them a wave of excitement, happiness and hope even in the most difficult times.

On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Ramakrishna Senior Secondary School organized several activities through virtual platform to make students understand the true essence of this festival and the sacred relation of a brother and a sister.

On this day, Ayushi Nayal of class- 1 recited a poem in her virtual classroom  in which she highlighted the significance of this festival. Through her poem she beautifully explained the meaning of the tradition of tying a holy thread ‘Rakhi’ around the wrist of brothers by their sisters. She further added that this tradition symbolizes Raksha which means protection and Bandhan which means bond. Thus Raksha Bandhan is a bond of protection given by a brother to his sister.

Jiya Banmali of Class IX recited a poem in Hindi in which she stated that people celebrate this festival with great zeal and on this day brother and sister reaffirm their pious bond of affection.  It conveyed the message of purity, unmatched bond of love, care and respect between siblings.

“ The bond between a sister and a brother, sometimes tightly woven, sometimes loosely held, but never broken.”
