In honour of World Mosquito Day, Ramakrishna Senior Secondary School observed various activities on August 20 to increase awareness about the threat of deadly and painful mosquito-borne diseases like malaria, dengue, chikungunya etc. and also the dire need to control the spread of such diseases.
On this World Mosquito Day “Shivam Surroach” a student of Class XII-A delivered a speech through virtual platform emphasizing the paramount initiative leading to discovery by British doctor, Ronald Ross of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine in 1897. This landmark discovery proved boon for the mankind creating awareness among people of the transmission of malaria and other diseases spread by the mosquito bite.
He even shared the statistical information about malaria indicating that there is still a long way to go to make sure that people are protected. Through his speech, he highlighted the importance of this day when it comes to controlling and preventing malaria all around the world. The methods to eliminate mosquito breeding and ABCD approach to combat this mosquito menace were also shared. The speaker urged everyone to stay clean, keep the surroundings clean and never give up in the fight against mosquitoes.
In the end, he insisted all totake pledge to be more aware and proactive with their health in order to live happy and long. He concluded his speech by wishing everyone a happy World Mosquito Day and also prayed for everyone’s well being and stronger immunity.
